On the run from a human trafficker, Tashi Holland arrives in Granite Falls looking for the one man she was told could protect her. Without his last name and identity, Tashi has no idea whom to trust, so when she bumps into a handsome man in a café, who pays a little too much attention to her, she panics and runs.

Adam Andreas has been quite content with temporary relationships since he was left standing at the alter. That all changes the day he bumps into a beautiful woman, whose frightened, emerald eyes threatens to pull him back into his abandoned habit of trying to rescue damsels-in-distress. He fights the urge until a late-night frantic call sends him to her rescue.

Little by little, Tashi begins to trust Adam, but she fears he might suffer the same fate as the FBI agent who helped her escape.
