A New Year and a Fresh Perspective: Slowing Down, Settling In, and Telling Stories Worth Savoring

Here we are, well into 2026 already. I hope that you’re finding your footing as you work through the goals you’ve set for yourself. I’ve been setting goals on my end, too—mapping writing plans, realigning priorities, and meditating on the stories I want to tell in 2026.

As you may have noticed, ever since Her Christmas Detour, Granite Falls has been calling me home. While my imagination flows endlessly with stories based in Akilina, my Granite Falls characters have been talking to me nonstop! From Kira's sweet happy ending with Jaxon in HCD, to the sensational and explosive chemistry between Ayanna and Terrence in Paging Doctor Brooks, I have loved being back in New Hampshire, and judging from the ratings and reviews, you have, too.

Before I'd even finished writing Rock Steady With Me, Zuri was begging me to tell her story of meeting and falling in love with her soulmate at Hotel Andreas. Bringing her and Kyree, Michelle's cousin, together felt deeply satisfying, and getting to spend time with the LaCrosse family was an added bonus. And that train is speeding down the tracks as we speak...

Yep, that darling, seven-year-old little girl you first met in The Doctor’s Secret Bride, is all grown up and setting her own rules—rules that stand in stark contrast to her father’s expectations. Hence, the tension Kyree picked up between her and Erik during breakfast at the LaCrosse estate.

All this to say that I’m going to be in Granite Falls for a little while longer. It has been a joy to revisit old characters and locations, and discover new hidden gems in this incredible mountain town, but unfortunately, it means Destined to Love Her will be delayed.

I am truly grateful for all of you who have taken a chance on my Billionaire Island Brides series, and I promise you’re going to love the steamy, emotional journey of Tele, the youngest Giannopoulos triplet, and his headstrong leading lady, Safi. Over the last twelve months, I’ve come to a clear realization: preorders and rigid deadlines—while helpful in theory—aren’t the best fit for how I want to write anymore. They can keep me on track, yes, but more often, the pressure becomes counterproductive. Instead of writing from a place of joy and clarity, I find myself racing the clock—and that’s not why I became an indie author.

My love for storytelling hasn’t changed one bit. I still thrive on creating dynamic characters and rich, emotionally layered stories. What has changed, is my enthusiasm to chase algorithms, lose sleep, and push through exhaustion to meet a deadline that I've preemptively set for myself. That cycle no longer serves me—or the stories I want to bring you.

So this year, I’m turning over a new leaf, and like many of my author friends who are feeling the same burnout, I'm moving at a pace that serves both me, my characters, and you, my dear readers.

In 2026, you can expect more from Granite Falls, Akilina and the Giannopoulos family, and a visit to Pine Valley Ranch.
